I know this is a week after, but i HAVE to tell you this story about the name of our son. We didn't know the gender of the baby until he was born. While in labor (for 24+ hours) we choose a girl & a boy name. I had an emergency c-section, that all went fine. Dr. said i was trying to fit a 10lb baby thru an 8lb hole, lol. ( he was 9.4lb) After he was born, i said in operating room, i guess it's Alexander, the boy name we choose. But while in recovery, and still groggy from the meds, i asked where was Nicky? Hubby was confused, we didn't know anyone with that name. I said "the baby, Nicky" , also a name never on our list.
Hubby filled out birth certificate info while i was still out of it, so we have 27 year old Alex. 🤣. And I am okay with that. But I've always wondered what if he were Nicky?

Hi Tim & Jen!! Congrats! We've been watching y'all for years! We did cord blood storage for our daughter a year ago. Very easy. I paid $150/mth for first year. Then it's like $150/yr to keep it stored. Small price to pay for a plan B, plus I just put it on a credit card so I could make it work with our budget.

This is late HOWEVER. for the cord blood- please look into delayed cord clamping. Let that blood finish pumping into the baby prior to the cord getting cut! If you let the cord stay connected to little man until it is finish pulsing it has soooo many benefits for his little baby body!!

If you have a c-section make sure you have a pillow for the car ride home to have some extra support over your incision for going over bumps. It helps so much.

I'm about 5 weeks behind Jen in pregnancy, and we are struggling with names! We have a few potentials, but practically everything I hear I just feel...meh...about. I haven't had any dreams about names, or any other strong feelings either! So at this point, we'll probably decide upon birth. Maybe a name will just click then. Good for you for keeping it a secret until birth ;-) Nice to have a secret for just you both!

I don’t know your plans, but I tell every soon-to-be mom to make sure their pump is fully sterilized and ready to go if you plan on nursing the baby. You may not think you’ll need it right away, but if you do, sterilizing is the last thing you want to worry about. Also, the Juju Be brand’s Be Right Back diaper bag is the best ever! Disney security comments all the time on how easy ours is to inspect. God bless you on your parenthood journey, it’s the best thing ever!

I had two planned c-sections in 23 months. First daughter was frank breech and second daughter was way head down, but I still opted for another planned c-section. I was in and out in 30 minutes and didn't feel a thing! I was nervous, but the only thing that hurt was the ten second pinch for the IV and the numbing shot for the spinal block. Recovery wasn't that bad, and even quicker with the second c-section. I'm glad I had planned c-sections. You'll do amazing! :)

Umbilical cord blood- hope you can save it and never need it like having life insurance. We did the same thing with the names of our kids, no one knew until after the birth and it was a special thing between my hubby and me. I would wait for a full year without incidents on the skyliner before riding it. There will always be kinks to work out when something is new. And also I think because the station wasn’t being used the way it was intended to be could have been a contributing factor seeing as it’s not supposed to be just a pass through. Also I would love to see a - what’s in our go bag video!!! You to are amazing and you’re gonna be great parents. Also Jen c section no biggy you can totally do it. Tim no lifting for Jen more than the baby after and it will help her recover faster!!! Maybe think about getting a support band for after the c section they can be really helpful but of course check with your Doc first always!!!!!!

I have two kids..didnt do it and haven't met anyone who has...I would do some more research and ask about what happens if you and your family would ever move....I travel with my Breastmilk..I didnt nurse with my first , but this time I wanted to...well traveling with frozen milk i had no success..but I had to learn my own routine and you would gain yours too..it took me a minute and to be honest it changes as they grows..I have a thermal section in my diaper backpack, I pump right before I leave and feed her right before so that I know I have two to three hours in between...breastfeeding world is a world of its own... smh..lol...but it is worth it..and don't stress out about supplementing(if you have to) when I have a deep in my supply, I supplement..its okay as long as baby is eating, mommy is not stressing and both are healthy...

Money for vending machines and parking (our hospital charges for parking except the last time you leave but my husband went home a couple of times). Don't forget stuff for Tim like snacks, etc. Bring your own shampoo, hospital stuff isn't that great. Anti-gas pills (make sure you have some at home for when you get back).

In regards to the chord blood, I heard of it- and did some research on it, but decided it was going to be too expensive for us to do it. Also, I was SO nervous about giving birth that I had a breakdown one night when we were out for dinner.... the waitress probably thought I was crazy... here's this lady whose 7 1/2 months pregnant, ugly crying about having to push a baby out of her body! LMAO Tim making the noise when the goat is eating is TOO FUNNY!

Once the skyliner has been running smoothly for a while, I think I'll ride it. I am not worried about getting hurt in it, it's more the getting stuck that worries me. I still ride the monorail, but it's not dangling me in the air, so I wouldn't be as freaked out if I got stuck on it. Now being evacuated out of it is another story...that would be a nightmare.

If you do the caesarean know you still have choices to make. You can have music play, you can ask about a clear drape to see the baby(they’ll drop the blue one right before they hold him up), you can still have chest time to have those bonding moments right after birth.

Also prepare for recovery now. Ask for help because healing will take longer. I’m a birth doula, if you want to talk about it look me up Sierra Earthside.

Also a belly binder after caesarean can help you feel more supported when you are up walking around and when you cough.

Hello Jen and Tim, our family loves you and the videos you make and share with all of us!
I’ve had 3 natural births and 3 c-sections having said that each have been different but all rewarding in the end. Try no to read the horror stories as everyone has one. All that matters are at the end of the day you and the baby are healthy.
The cord blood saving wasn’t available back 38 years ago and by the time we had our last almost 6 years ago they didn’t offer it here. If you can I would store the cord blood.
Next please take some time for yourselves as new parents and enjoy these moments. They go by all to fast! Nights will be long sometimes but at the end of the day it all gets done and you make it through it.
Our youngest met you at the Christmas store last year and took a picture with you both. She is over the moon with excitement as we have since made an offer on a home in Florida! She hopes to run into you both with the new baby someday.
Many Blessings from our family to yours!

you absolutely don't need our input at this point, but we've had a stupid week and we're just catching up on your videos! Our son is 15 and we chose to save his cord blood when he was born. We researched, we spoke to multiple physician-parents, and we found a company we felt was the right choice. The experience was not good. They kept losing our payments, then they went out of business and we have no idea whatever happened to our son's cells. Our daughter is almost 5 years younger, and we chose to simply donate her blood, hoping those cells might be able to either help someone else sooner, or help researchers learn more ways to cure other people. As always, this was simply our experience, and our 2 different decisions. Like nearly EVERY decision you make as parents, from the minute you find out you're expecting, there are so many possibilities! I wish you the best no matter what you choose. One thing to remember is to keep the joy up front and let the stress of all the decisions slide as much as possible! Parenting is tough, but the joy and love are worth it all. Love to all THREE of you!

I believe there will continue to be more innovation in this area of science.
