    I’m gonna be that guy.
    Correct: Brachiosaurus “brah-kee-oh-saw-rus”
    Incorrect: Bronchiosaurus “bron-kee-oh-saw-rus”
    As in: “That Brachiosaurus does not have bronchitis.”

      @Films&Stuff Superb writing. Thanks for giving me an excuse to mention it. Superb writing and *excellent voice work. Goldblum could have done better, of course. In fact, have Jeff Goldblum do the next one. In character! Any character.

      Thank you for the quality of your work, this entertaining education.

      I know it's tougher to say, but I'm this guy:
      "Horror" = two syllables
      "Whore" = one syllable

    i remember an interview from the making-of of the 2nd movie. he or she (dont remember) said "they audience knew from the first film that we could do dinosaurs. so now it is about what we can do with them". and that's how everything went to crap.

      Not once was color grading mentioned in this video. It is one of the most significant elements that helped make Jurassic Park feel that much more real and immersive, vs the overly used depressing two tone color palette, such as teal and orange (which is now, somewhat amateurish). Jurassic world was sooooo painfully blue, it made the entire movie feel cold, depressing and unrealistic. Everything blended together except the orange elements, which was contrary to belief by amateur film makers, actually a distracting element in the film. I actually took my blue ray copy of Jurassic World and undid the color palette and converted it to more natural (similar to Jurassic Park 1) color scheme. Basically, all that needed to be done was lower the blue levels to more neutral tones, as well as the orange elements, making skin a more natural tone. This in itself made the entire movie experience far more believable and immersive. I can't figure out why the studio saw it fit to give it that one click teal and orange treatment. Unfortunately, the teal and orange color palette was also used in the sequel of Jurassic World.

      In fact.. there is a blu ray re-release of Jurassic Park 1, which for some reason, was also converted to teal and orange. It's horrible. Everything looks sickly. I hope they completely shelve that look, because it does no favors to these types of films.

        Jurassic Park is a motion picture masterpiece that reeks of cinematic greatness. The Lost World and Jurassic Park III are acceptable, memorable and entertaining.

        Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are commercial diarrhea. Forgettable, stupid and worthless.

              Jurasic Park had a good script based on a good novel, good dialogue, interesting characters, good direction, good special effects, good (not bland) actors, good storyboard. The sequels were just meh.

                    I'm sick of Cinemascope! I bought a widescreen telly for films to fit it, then films got wider, grrr! Jurassic Park is one of the very best films ever made. Jurassic World is pants in comparison, and I won't watch the second one unless it comes on telly and I'm really bored. No film these days is crafted with the care and attention that JP was.

                        More vertical space? No, that would mean cinemascope is cropping the image. Cinemascope isactually more horizontal spcae.

                          Heard in a 'Jurassic World' pre-production meeting:

                          "What can we do in order for 'Jurassic World' to become the success behind the rebooting of the 'Jurassic Park' series?" the big studio boss asked his subordinates.
                          "I know, I know! Bigger dinosaurs!" a clueless lower-ranking executive replied.
                          "Yeah. Yeah! Kids will talk about how tall it is for months! It will be so much better than the original!"

                          Yeah, I know: I'm oversimplifying things for the sake of—

                          Wait... Ever saw that alien mothership in the 'Independence Day' sequel?

                            That scene where the T-Rex
                            Goes from practical effects to cgi is so cleverly done
                            Notice the camera zooms upto the cars windscreen frame then you get a seamless transition perfection.

                                    Cinemascope is a 'generic term", and is used to describe a movie shot in a 2.35:1 ratio through 2.66:1 Radio, the movie is filmed on 35mm film using lenses that compress the image, then the projectionist would use another lens to uncompress the image to fill the screen.

                                          A wider frame will still have the same height if projected on a bigger screen. Really all these arguments are not about the framing but the quality of the directing and cinematography.

                                            The visuals of the sequel are perfectly fine. This notion that the first film is infallible and the further 4 are trash is just stupid click-bait nonsense.

                                            Nobody ever likes to have it pointed out how the animatronic T-Rex jerks badly as it sways left to right due to the heavy on-set rain soaking the latex and throwing off the mechanics. Nope, it's all just perfect and nothing that came after that built upon what JP started will ever look as good because.... haters gonna hate.

                                                    Joss Whedon made a point of shooting his first Avengers film in 1:1.85. Perhaps it is worth seeing what he gained and what he lost through this choice in comparison to other MCU films.

The shot is fabulously realized for sure but if you freeze frame the shot and actually look at the T Rex in relation to the cars the Dinosaurs Head is bigger than the cars. And a Trex is NOT THAT BIG!!! They very intentionally scaled up the Rex for maximum impact. But it is ABSURDLY over scaled. I think this is just a lot of fan boy stuff here. Get real.

                                                                              I've heard recently that scientists believe that the T rex' visuals aren't based on movement. Though when you look at carnivores vs herbivores today, herbivores and humans have high resolution and high colour resolution where as carnivores have poor resolution and colour discrimination but superior movement detection, I think that is what they were going for in Jurassic Park and it works for me.

                                                                                Also a lot of these arguments seem made up. But I could agree with the fact the new movies feel kinda overstuffed visually.

I never noticed the foot move, or that the whole thing was CGI, until now.

                                                                                      I had to listen to the last part of this video a second time from 7:47 to the end because of what the narrator says, which is so great. “Cinematography isn’t about the beauty of an image or the dynamic nature of a shot. It really boils down to two things: what does the shot say and how does it make you feel.”
                                                                                      While doing this, I realized that the narrator’s voice has an interesting inflection and resemblance to the narration of Rod Serling, the creator and writer of the original black and white Twilight Zone TV series. Serling’s voice had a certain quality to it that lended itself to the series which was weird and ironic and profound.
                                                                                      This is a great video and the last comment about cinematography is profound.
                                                                                      I learned a lot about how Steven Spielberg created his masterpiece, Jurassic Park. I wonder just how much of what we see in the film was done unintentionally and just his natural instinct and genius at work or if he intentionally thought out all of these details in preproduction while creating the storyboards. Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this film.
