In today's video we're exhaustively testing the myth that tapping on your soda can will decrease the amount of pressure built up in a shaken soda can. Should you tap it on the side? On the top? The bottom? Not at all? Today we're getting to the bottom of it.

I feel like the tapping is still unnecessary, if you just wait the 10 seconds you tapped for you’ll get the same results either way

I have always used the tab of the can to tap the top of it before opening it. It works every time. Flip the tab for about 30 seconds on top of the can and then open slowly. It never fails to open without any kind of mess.

So... You're going to turn up the juice, and see what shakes loose?

To explain why the agitation resulted in less foam, the continued agitation was actually breaking individual foam bubbles to produce a larger "bubble" of plain CO² which just escaped when you opened the can; while a singular shake agitated the CO², but didn't break the individual bubbles, leading to more foam being released when the can was breached.

The best way to do it is to make a sacrifice to the soda gods then you shake as much as you can , then you put in front of your face and op n it

Your problem is when you sit the can in the centre of the paint shaker the liquid in the can would have more of a stirring motion but If you offset the can in the paint shaker it would be more of a jostling motion which is what you would want

Freezing a can of soda causes it to explode.

Also, the term you are looking for is, frozen.

                                    Not freezed.

The problem with this experiment is the method of shaking the can. It has to be done by hand, chest level. So give it another shot with Calli shaking it and Nate can film it.

It looses less in the paint shaker because it’s a sideway shake not a vertical shake so it doesn’t move all the carbonated liquid.

(Cavitation can literally blast off the bottom of a glass bottle.)
