Thr 33 Thank you for this. We worked in that part of the hood for many years. It never felt like we didn’t belong. It just felt like that’s where we were supposed to be until we could afford to take a step out of it. It’s a place that brings some tough memories, also gave us some incredible ones too.

Her message in the interview is litt. She seems better than a psychologist. The book is a self-helping book to motivate people who suffer with anxiety and a passage for anyone to be free with them self. People generally are beyond slick or some people are beyond nice. We all have to find a way to cope without having people profile us because allegedly u were the one person in mc Donald’s louder than anyone else. We have to separate the fear of polices and unite with them. To them, we’re random people but if we became people who talked with each police community in our neighborhood, they would definitely treat us with human respect. The first step is to always have a smile on and talk so the other person is comfortable. The second step is to be polite because no1 profiles a bad person good, unless there is something reallly wrong. And this should be the rule/law to humans every where “ ask people if u can joke around before u say something to offend them” . There are rare great life role models like Trevor Noah, our 105.1 DJ, Nick Cannon and I wish there were a lot more for everyone but these people live with good principles and they all have one thing in common They know to never let anyone’s hate affect them because the whole point of being friendly is to always be welcoming and understanding the other persons point of view. Even if u don’t understand, you should try. Always be open minded. It’s less stressful to be positive and open minded.

                    • THE SIMPLE TRADING METHOD

So much white privilege in this video. I'd say most black americans are a rare breed! That's why white society is so fearful of them and has constantly worked to destroy any attempt toward economic and political power. Any attempt at us evoking that this strength, leads to our expulsion from access to white capital. These white women are preaching something WE ALREADY BEEN DOING. Black adverting agencies cant even get access to contracts to advertise to black people even though we do it best!

Scary Asses! Silver spoon ass WG's! Speaking down on our community, these the same MF'ers gentrifying the shit out of "urban" areas. Pushing up the cost of living and displacing the people who have spent their lives on the fringes, working blood sweat and tears to survive from day to day. And they spend 2yrs there, in their parents warehouse.. And got the nerve to act like they've overcome the worst that life has to offer. I hate when TBC gives their platform/direct pipeline to the disenfranchised, for shit like this. The book may be beneficial but their clear disconnect to "hood" shit is a smack in the face of the same people that they are on the show hoping to reach. I really just feel that the last few minutes of this interview exposed true condescendence that they share for me and mine. The one's who have been forced to live and thrive in the pool that these WG's dipped a toe in and swear they survived.
SMFH...TBC, y'all weak for shit like this.

TheoKabala89 Appreciate this feedback and hear you. There were some pretty intense things going on right outside that warehouse front door - literally a few feet away - shootings, drug deals, poverty, you name it. While we wouldn’t want to go back there, we did grow out of there. It gave perspective that wasn’t communicated here. We never once felt outside of our neighborhood, but rather actually in it. So it didn’t feel careless to call it the ghetto since it was self prescribed by everyone who worked or lived there. We hope you’ll give us another shot to prove we have something to share.

Mr. Marnez, we hear you and appreciate that insight. There are many, in your words, darker-skinned people - who ARE disrupting and stepping out and making real positive change. Look at the Promise School like LeBron or the Obamas (not to pick a political side but rather make a point).

@Paul Ofili We have a rare breed. Byran Allen is a black billionaire who's being blackballed! You're the typical african who comes to america and shits on black americans. I'd say most black americans are a rare breed! That's why white soceity is so fearful of them and has constantly worked to destroy any attempt toward economic and political power. Most africans are mediocre and docile toward power. That's why their countries lack development and political stability and have leaders who have remained in power for 20,30 or 40 years in some cases.

More young people should really listen to what these young ladies are saying. So many times there are people who think outside of the box or look at life and opportunities in such a unique way but then they are forced to have to conform because someone does not see the world the way they see them. And the fact that they came up through the royal South and expanded from there is also a good example of what it means to grow from a place that’s outside of a major metropolitan city. Great interview.

It's not that they didn't have anything of value to say. It's the way this information has been filtered through what is unbelievable privilege (even with everything they have faced personally as self-proclaimed "rare breeds" and lesbians--who are still White women in America who had the luxury to move their business into the "ghetto"...as an option for cheaper rent, and not because they have no choice or inherited a legacy of oppression and marginalization that keep them there. They talked about how horrible it was living in this high-crime area because it affected them personally...(As two White women who grew up in higher income homes and neighborhoods). The had the option to leave, or not volunteer to live there in the first place. A luxury. When asked why they stayed where they chose to go, they answered because the neighborhood was cheap AND they had a family member who owned a property. Again, what privilege! Great, but recognize it. Own it. Be grateful. They really appeared to conflate struggle with struggle. As though the same rules apply for everyone who dares to dream. They do not. I felt there was no understanding of intersectionality outside of their personal hurdles. Moreover, their attitudes seemed almost entitled juxtaposed against that lack of awareness. The blind spots with these two made the messaging moot for me.

My grandfather bought it for his construction company over 30 years ago before Myrtle Beach became notorious for crime, random shootings, and drug abuse. The warehouse was cheap when he bought it, as he had nothing growing up in the cole mining camps of WVA his whole life. He moved here and started a life for my family with nothing to his name after his business partner took every penny he had and ran off on a business deal they made. It left my grandparents, mom, aunt and uncle homeless. They had to leave their home, lives, and everything they ever knew all behind and packed up their car and moved to Myrtle Beach to make a better life for themselves when it was up and coming during that time. She was 8 years old when that happened. She paid rent like any other person would if they rented it to my grandfather. He taught her so many values, and helped so many people grow as well. A very wise man who made her work for everything she has had. And yes, she has acknowledged that she, nor anyone in our blood line would be who they are without the hard work, determination and persistence from her parents (my grandparents). Call it what you want, “white privilege” but you don’t know all the details so it’s best you don’t make opinions where you have no facts. She referred to it as the ghetto because there have been many cases of murder, shootings and drug dealing in her area because it’s a remote location on one road backed up to woods that connect to the poorer area of town.
