Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centres around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

Three-time Oscar nominee Phoenix (“The Master,” “Walk the Line,” “Gladiator”) stars in the titular role alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro (“Raging Bull,” “The Godfather: Part II”). The film also stars Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Frances Conroy (TV’s “American Horror Story,” Hulu’s “Castle Rock”), Brett Cullen (“42,” Netflix’s “Narcos”), Glenn Fleshler (TV’s “Billions,” “Barry”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Shea Whigham (“First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”), Marc Maron (TV’s “Maron,” “GLOW”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” TV’s “Penny Dreadful”), Josh Pais (upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”) and Leigh Gill (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”).
Oscar nominee Phillips (“Borat,” “The Hangover” trilogy) directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), based on characters from DC. The film was produced by Phillips and Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“A Star Is Born,” “American Sniper”) under their Joint Effort banner, and Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff (“The Wolf of Wall Street”). It was executive produced by Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Aaron L. Gilbert, Joseph Garner, Richard Baratta, and Bruce Berman.
Behind the scenes, Phillips was joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “The Hangover” trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (“If Beale Street Could Talk,” “Selma”), editor Jeff Groth (“War Dogs,” “The Hangover Part III”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (“Phantom Thread,” “The Artist”). The music is by Hildur Guðnadóttir (HBO’s “Chernobyl,” “Sicario: Day of the Soldado”).
Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in Association with BRON Creative, a Joint Effort Production, a Film by Todd Phillips, “Joker”.
Joker will be in cinemas 4th October, 2019 by Warner Bros. Pictures
    Directed By: Todd Phillips
Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, Marc Maron, Douglas Hodge, Josh Pais and Leigh Gill.

All I want to know is, are they going to make a sequel, with Joaquin Phoenix escaping from the loony bin and finishing what he started burning Gotham City to the ground. (ᅌᴗᅌ* )

This is the first movie I've seen twice in theaters, and I went to see Avengers Endgame. So I actually like this movie more than Endgame and I'm more of a marvel fan. But damn, the batman universe characters are so dark and relatable. It makes me love it so much more than any marvel character.

Joaquin Phonix's performance was untouchable! This movie, however, was deeply disturbing, creepy, and made me afraid of the fact that there probably are people in the world that are really that disturbed. Most of all because society really can be that cruel to people. I hope if this movie teaches anyone anything it's to be much nicer to people! It was very concerning!

Arthur's Joker Mask is also reflective of the Batman symbol. The smile looks like the wings of the Bat, the diamond shapes around his eyes like the ears.

Idk I think I like the deleted scene more because that makes him the joker. Although this movie is the best ive seen in quite a while, you could replace all the characters with anybody and the film would still make sense. But the deleted scene connects him to the Joker. Just my two cents

Another possibility you're missing is that they might be saving the mouth-cutting for a sequel. You're also assuming that Sophies storyline was imagined while the rest was real. Maybe the entire storyline was imagined. So many possibilities. That what makes it more than just a movie. That's what makes it art.

With Phoenix's acting skill very convincing as a sick weird crazy guy. But it could have been called the interesting story of Arthur Fleck or Joe shmo. Meaning its almost like the joker character doesn't play in much, but as a add on to the movie. His acting as a crazy person is very good, but not very joker like at all. He is like broader line retarded. The joker is really smart. As for the deleted scenes, I think they made some good choices. The relationship was very awkward and would have been dumb. So the fact it was all in his head made it make sense. It also adds to the fact that you dont know how much of the movie is actully real, which makes it good. As for cutting his own face, I think it would have been fine ethier way and wouldn't have really mattered.

                                                                  • Sandeep Baidya

Too close a link to the other DC movies and Heath's Joker (not a cool move) as the JOKER movie stands proud on its own!

It was a silly thing to do not an insane thing. It's not like it was a suicide attempt. Maybe there was symbolism I just didn't get.

Here’s some reasons why I loved it, and if you agree and have more or disagree, please say.

1: it’s predictable, but that’s exactly how Joker is supposed to be.

2: it’s confusing, which almost perfectly shows the mental illness he has to go through

3: it shows the way somebody can break mentally, and how fast somebody can break.

4: Arthur Fleck never knows himself, and all he knows is how awkward he is and how awkward and uncomfortable everybody could be.

I’m tired but these are just a few of the reasons why I absolutely loved the movie.
