At Donut Media we all love motorcycles just about as much as we love cars. Some of us are into MotoGP, Motocross, Supercross, Flat Track racing, and pretty much everything that involves two wheel racing! Motorcycles are just fun to ride and a very affordable way to go extremely fast, so naturally Nolan got bit by the motorcycle bug. So, what does it take to get started with a bike?

For this episode of Whee House Nolan attended a private motorcycle training course. The official California sanctioned training programs will waive the DMV motorcycle driving test, the private course does not.

If you are under the age of 21 you do have to ride with your permit for 6 months before you are given your license and the right to ride on highways.

WheelHouse answers all the questions about the automotive and motorcycle world you never thought to ask. Nolan Sykes looks at the history, sociology and psychology behind the cars and bikes you love, and the features you might overlook.

Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

Acquisition of a motorcycle license in NYS, practice tests online, written permit test at DMV, practice circles and figure 8's on the narrowest roads you can find, take class M road test..... Done! If you do this process correctly I guarantee success.

In indonesia we've got these people who help.... More like we pay them so we can get license without* having a test (street sign, bike ride) so we just pay like $100 and they'll do it. Same for cars.

2:40 wait. no way it's that easy in america. here in germany that would be many hours of theoretical & practical training followed by a test of what you should have learned. in that test of like 25 questions you can sometimes only answer one question wrong to still pass. so that whole deal would cost you in the. neighborhood of 1000€ (which is about $1100). I'm guessing the process in the US got simplified for video purposes but it still seems like a lot less work to get to ride in the US than in Germany.. 🤯

It's not all about how fast it goes, it's about how much you enjoy the adrenaline of being on your bike and the personality you establish for your motorcycle.

As a beginner, you're going to drop that bike which probably means you're gonna go down. Most likely that will be when the bike is less stable where a new rider will be challenged. The good news is that the bike is less stable at a very slow speed - like less than 7mph, so you won't be injured as long as you're wearing your gear. Beginner drops happen when stalling the bike, very slow turns or U turns, losing grip with your boots when moving backwards, putting your foot down on unstable or slippery surface, coming to sudden stops with the bars slightly turned, etc. All of these are new biker things you'll learn about and gain experience in avoiding. Depending on your natural ability, after a year or so you should have mastered how to handle a standard motorcycle safely as a means of transportation. That doesn't mean you can take a 200 HP+ MotoGP bike around the track or a huge adventure bike to Alaska through rain and the dirt. It means you should be able to safely ride around town with confidence. The more you ride the better rider you will be. After that first two years, there's really no excuse to drop your standard size bike because of simple handling maneuvers. I've been riding for almost 10 years, and after dropping my bike 2 times in the first year at very slow speeds, I haven't dropped it since and have never really came close to dropping it. However, collisions with other vehicles or objects are not a "learner" thing. You either are a mature rider/driver with good situational awareness or you're not. You may develop better defensive riding habits over time - but that's a choice of a mature rider. If as a driver you tend to get into car accidents, regardless if they are your fault or not, you should seriously think twice about riding motorcycles.

Oh, forgot to tell you i have to do ANOTHER ONE if i want to drive a bike higher than 300cc and ANOTHER ONE if i want to drive a bike higher than idk how much hp

Fuck this, it's 4 years i'm driving a bike almost everyday (started going to school with my vespa since the first day i got my 50cc licence) but nope, that ain't enought
