I get it's comedic but why is he intersecting individual hero's stories? The .5 should have gone into history since it doesn't effect the story structure directly and the rest should have fit on the circle acting as story beats that show the arc of soras story.

Polygon was not prepared, we tried to warn them...

Honestly though, i think it would be easier to know the story by following each character's story individually, and piecing the whole story together using what we know from the cast individually
That's how i learned about Roxas, Xion and Axel's arc
Haven't learned them all yet, of course, but still, i found it much easier this way

This does raise the idea that the thing that changes the premise of the hero's journey is the villian's story. Their stories will always intercept and it gets more complicated when the hero considers themself the hero and the villian to be the ordeal

*Cracks knuckles* - Game on. Warning: Spoilers ensue.
Also I put this in a Word Doc and it ended up being 10 pages, let's go cowards.

Background: The universe of Kingdom Hearts is broken up into the Realm of Light (where the Disney worlds are and most of the characters hail from), the Realm of Darkness, and the Realm Between (which is made of up eldritch worlds with weird rules, usually undergoing some form of metamorphosis at all times or just constantly blinking in and out of existence). Worlds in the Realm of Light are more than just planets, caught in sort of pocket dimensions that aren't accessible by conventional starship travel; these "barriers" can be completely destroyed by a flood of darkness, or briefly pierced and passed through with magic.
When a person from the Realm of Light is overwhelmed by darkness (be it black magic or just general negativity), their heart rips out of their body and develops an animated black shell, a monstrous creature of instinct called a Heartless; the form of the Heartless is dependent on the amount of darkness the person had in their heart before they changed. If the person is strong-willed, the remaining empty body can then zombify and become a Nobody, which retains the ability to think but also gains eldritch powers of its own. Yes, the names are backwards, it's meant to be ironic.
When a Heartless is destroyed with a conventional weapon, the heart simply returns to the Realm of Darkness and forms a new Heartless shell around itself, sort of like demons in D&D. However, if a Heartless is defeated with a weapon of light, if it has no Nobody or its Nobody has also been destroyed, then the Heart and Body rejoin and become a person again.

The story of Kingdom Hearts begins with the mobile game, Ux (read either Unchained Chi or Union Cross):
Hundreds if not thousands of years in the past during the Age of Fairytales, all of the worlds of the Realm of Light were one, and a sorcerer called the Master of Masters developed the technique to extract a magical weapon from a strong-willed person's heart called a Keyblade (if you've ever seen FLCL it's like the guitars, or your Persona or Stand or whatever you want to call it -- individual power based on your own strength of character). He also developed a power that allows him to fuse one of his eyes into his own Keyblade -- the first and oldest -- and use it to see along the Keyblade's entire history, giving it to one of his apprentices, Luxu, to pass along ad infinitum along with a locked black box, then he wrote down all of his witnessed history in a tome called the Book of Prophecies and gave copies to each of his other 5 apprentices, who become the "Foretellers", but tore a page out of all but one of those books detailing the identity of a traitor amongst these seven. The Foretellers then gathered other individuals who could wield the Keyblade into Unions in an attempt to forestall a dark prophecy at the end of the Book, but because of the distrust caused by the knowledge of the missing page from their Books, the Foretellers instead sparked a conflict between all of their Unions that led into an all-out Keyblade War that cracked the world apart into an entire cosmos. One of the Foretellers however, Ava, had a secret task to gather the best and brightest Keyblade wielders from among all the Unions and cast them into a parallel universe where they could survive the Keyblade War, then return to rebuild the world. Your standard Noah's Ark story.

Cue Dream Drop Distance: Yen Sid decides the best way to kick off the Mark of Mastery Exam is to send Sora and Riku into the dream world so they can learn to use the "Power of Waking". While they're off taking their exam, the reconstituted Lea-formerly-Axel hits up Yen Sid to learn how to wield a Keyblade so he can bring back Roxas (and, subconsciously, Xion).
Given that this game involves a long explanation of _dreams_ and _time travel_ by way of _Kingdom Hearts_ logic, just for the sake of simplification I'll skip to the relevant bits: Sora's sleeping form gets abducted by the New Organization where Xehanort attempts to make him into one of his thirteen vessels. Riku unwittingly jumped into Sora's dreams to protect him from Xehanort's influence -- which is why the two end up separated for their entire exam -- and didn't exactly do a perfect job. Riku, Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Lea all storm the Organization's fortress to save Sora, where the now reconstituted Master Xehanort accidentally lets slip that he's the reason they still haven't found Terra, but very deliberately tells Mickey to find 7 Guardians of Light or he'll start kidnapping Princesses again so his 13 Xehanorts can make the X-Blade.
While the group successfully retrieve Sora from the Organization, Sora is in a coma, so Riku delves back into Sora's dreams to re-awaken him. There Riku finds an implanted memory of Ansem the Wise who informs Riku that he left data related to Roxas, Xion and Ventus behind, which could be used to reconstitute the first two and perhaps awaken the latter.
At the end, Riku successfully awakens Sora and is named a Keyblade Master for his efforts (Sora isn't named such but has no problem with that), Lea summons his own Keyblade for the first time, Yen Sid summons Kairi to train to use her Keyblade so she'll be the least helpless of the Princesses, and Sora returns to the dream worlds so he can say farewell to the friends he made along the way.

Cue the framing of 0.2 Birth By Sleep: While Sora is off in the dream world, Mickey recounts the tale of the time he found Aqua in the Realm of Darkness near the end of KH1. Riku's upset that Mickey didn't tell him before about how she saved all of their asses, but Mickey counters that they weren't in any position to help her at the time, had been very busy since, and only now were prepared to brave the Realm of Darkness for her. Yen Sid gives Riku and Mickey outfits enchanted with protection from the darkness and sends them on their way, and sends Kairi off to train with Lea under the wizard Merlin in a place that's more flexible with time.
Sora returns from the dream world just slightly too late to see his friends off, and Yen Sid informs him that the latest Xehanort coma sapped his powers again, including the Power of Waking that he went into the dream world to pick up in the first place. In order to help him recover his strength, Yen Sid sends Sora off to train with Hercules on Olympus.

Somewhere in the last four paragraphs comes the epilogue of Birth By Sleep: Aqua ventures out onto the same beach in the Realm of Darkness that Sora and Riku landed on after the battle with Xemnas. There she finds Ansem the Wise, still piecing together his memories after the explosion that dropped him there. Ansem informs her that Sora is still out there helping, and will be the one to save them, among many others.

There, that's everything up to KH3. This took 8 hours to write. You're. Fucking. Welcome.

Cue the remainder of 358/2 Days: Roxas and Xion are each tasked to use their Keyblades to collect hearts from the Heartless so the Organization can weave them together into another pseudo-Kingdom Hearts like the one Ansem SoD formed. Axel returns from Castle Oblivion to find that Roxas and Xion have become good friends in his absence, and because he has met Sora and had been bonding with Roxas, he begins to see Xion's face and make friends with her as well.
It is revealed that Xion was originally designed to steal Roxas' powers and ability to wield the Keyblade in case he ever recovered his memories as Sora and turned on the Organization, but a side-effect of her existence as a Replica made from Sora's memories is that she is also siphoning off the memories Namine scrambled, preventing his awakening. Axel worries that Roxas will wither away from over-exposure to Xion (while the Organization's higher-ups attempt to turn Roxas and Xion against each other so she can absorb the rest of his power), Riku attempts to convince Xion to leave the Organization so he doesn't have to destroy her and Roxas to save Sora, Saix begins to show signs of jealousy that Axel is bonding with Roxas and some puppet which could waylay their plans for the Organization, Xion begins to accept that Roxas and Sora can't survive while she exists and attempts to flee several times, and Xemnas orders Axel to recover Xion each time she attempts to flee. Ultimately Roxas gets fed up with the lies and backstabbing of the Organization and runs away as well, and Xion battles with Roxas of her own volition so he can absorb her and return to Sora. This event gives Roxas the ability to wield two Keyblades, as well as subconscious access to Sora's memories.
However, because Xion's entire life is constituted from memories, her destruction means even the memory of her cannot remain; as such, Roxas struggles to remember any connection to her, and desperately attempts to break into the Organization's stronghold and use Kingdom Hearts to reconstitute Xion before he forgets her completely. Riku, knowing that Xemnas could easily destroy Roxas, gives in to his dark powers (permanently taking on the appearance of Ansem SoD) so that he can capture Roxas to return his memories to Sora.

Cue Kingdom Hearts 2: DiZ places Roxas in a hastily-made digital recreation of Twilight Town with no memory of the Organization until Namine can finish prepping Sora for their fusion, where he bonds with digital versions of some of the kids from the town while dealing with memories of a boy he's never met and the system glitches left by DiZ. Axel and an army of lesser Nobodies break into the digital Twilight Town and attempt to bring the amnesiac Roxas back to the Organization under orders to capture or destroy, while DiZ and Ansem!Riku gaslight Roxas into staying in the fantasy they created.
Meanwhile on Destiny Islands: Kairi is beginning to remember Sora after Namine's scrambling, and writes a letter to him stating her intent to find him. She puts it in a bottle and -- after a brief telepathic conversation with Roxas via Namine -- sends the bottle out to sea to find its way to Sora.

Off-screen, Namine is probing the complete set of Sora's memories now that she has access to Roxas' as well, and begins to discover memories from both Xion and Ventus. She adds an extra note to the blank journal of Sora's original journeys to investigate this later.

Cue Chain of Memories: Sora, Donald and Goofy find themselves in an unfamiliar world and follow a long winding road that leads to the entrance of none other than Castle Oblivion. Six members of Organization XIII (including a few considered to be potential traitors, and Axel among them as a spy) had recently been dispatched there to continue research on creating "Replicas", and found Namine waiting for them.
Because Namine was born when Sora became a Heartless, she has a unique ability to alter the memories of both him and people he has strong bonds with. As soon as Sora, Donald and Goofy enter Castle Oblivion, the Organization forces her to scramble his memories in the hopes they can turn him into a pawn, specifically replacing Sora's memories of Kairi with memories of Namine to motivate him to save her. (This process ends up putting Roxas into a coma for about 3 weeks, blankens the journal of the original journey, and causes all of Sora's off-world friends to have muddled memories of him as well.)
Meanwhile in the Castle Oblivion basements, DiZ summons Riku and King Mickey from the Realm of Darkness in the hopes of using them in his plans against the Nobodies. Riku continues to be haunted by the lingering influence of Ansem SoD, who not only gives him the power of darkness once again but attempts to assert control over the boy several times.
Sora, Donald and Goofy climb toward the top floor of the castle while Riku and Mickey climb out of the basement, each battling members of the Organization along the way. Vexen of the Organization, their head researcher and a former apprentice of Ansem the Wise, creates a Replica in the likeness of Riku and sets it against Sora to make Sora believe Riku has turned against him and is determined to protect Namine from him, and the Organization convinces the Replica that it can replace Riku by killing the real Riku as well. Axel assassinates two members of the Organization (including one of the only members higher ranked than Saix); Riku (under the influence of Ansem) absolutely destroys one and bonds with his Replica after fatally wounding it; and Sora defeats the other two Organization members who command the castle, freeing Namine, who informs him that she will need to put him, Donald and Goofy to sleep for some time to restore his memories (and all memories of him) to their original form. DiZ bids Riku to meet with Namine as well, who offers to either seal his memories of Ansem and permanently lock his influence, but Riku declines in favor of facing the ghost himself, offering to help Namine and DiZ protect and restore Sora and his friends instead. Riku and Mickey leave the castle to investigate the Organization, and Namine and DiZ move Sora and friends to a mansion in Twilight Town.

Simultaneously, King Mickey has found his way into the Realm of Darkness in search of a Keyblade from that Realm which he can use to close the door between the Realms of Light and Darkness, which will both stem the flow of Heartless into the Realm of Light and free all the worlds captured to create it. Along the way he separately meets both Riku (whose heart reconstituted there after Ansem SoD overwhelmed him) and Aqua, who helps him find the Keyblade he sought in the captured Destiny Islands. He reveals that in order to close the door, they need a Keyblade on each side and people on each side to shut it, meaning he and Riku will have to be shut in.
Meanwhile, Xemnas indoctrinates Roxas into the Organization and uses the sampled memories he borrowed from Sora to begin work on a clone of Sora's powers, dubbed Organization no. _i_ or "Xion". This will be the start of the game 358/2 Days, but not its end. Xion initially had no face, but because Sora's most important memories of are Kairi, Xion takes on the likeness of Kairi in the eyes of anyone who has a strong bond with Sora. Axel begins mentoring Roxas within the Organization.
Maleficent -- remember her? -- also time-travels back to the Keyblade War and learns about the Books of Prophecy and a black box formerly carried by the apprentice Luxu.

Sora defeats Ansem SoD who is purged by the light of Kingdom Hearts, giving Riku back his body on the other side of the Door to Darkness. Aqua holds back the tide of Heartless using Master Eraqus' Keyblade and is separated from the group while Mickey, Riku, Sora, Donald and Goofy close the Door, consequently sealing Mickey and Riku into the Realm of Darkness as well. The captured worlds begin returning to the Realm of Light, including the Destiny Islands; Sora bids Kairi farewell so he can look for Riku and the King, staying with Donald and Goofy while Kairi returns to the reforming Islands with the promise of her friends' safe return. Aqua, satisfied to have helped, lays down on the beach of the fading Destiny Islands before sinking back into the Realm of Darkness... with Eraqus' Keyblade still on the island shore. Oops.
