Here is the thing the chinese in americam factory has just operated and is not yet even making a profit because of the volume js just not enough, and early on you have these american employees complaining already and trying to form a union. Insyead of them being grateful for the job, they act like they are bringing tons of money for the company already and they wanted to form a union which further threatens the financial viability of the factory. Now they get fired and replaced and cry for being jobless. Why dont they ask their union members to pay them their wages. American people are just plain selfish, they dont understand the whole interplay of the business with a beneficiary relationship to its stakeholders. suppliers, employees etc. if a business grows emolployees as well

They want jobs but they also want fairness and a liveable salary compared to the rest of people in the area. You heard that a nail technician was making more money than one of the middle managers in the company. They don't want to have their entire lives dominated by a company that has one purpose in mind, which is to make the owners very rich.

After watching these movie i gained respect more for chinese and less for the americans. Although chinese people tend to overwork their people, their people are disciplined, focused on a goal of producing an x number of units and that has been their competitive advantage 'efficiency', has the sense of teamwork and sense of needed to prove something first because i complain on wages. While the american are onion skinned, they are fat, slow, dont like much criticism, just shows up clearly wanting to time in and get paid, complain too much. They are complainin as if their business unit is generating income. They are even at a loss and not producing the numbers and they are still damn proud to fight for their complains. SMH. americans are crying that chinese companies stole their jobs, but if you look at it they themselves is the reason why jobs went out of america, because they are just damn lazy and crybaby.

the problem is they accept this routine as it were normal. It is part of Chinese culture from what I can see is to work very hard and not complain about the conditions. This may be good for the Chinese economy and the bosses who own the factories but it is not good for the worker or their families. My father always told me to work smart, not hard. We only have one life and it should not be entirely about working especially in a place like a factory where the work is extremely laborious and totally unfulfilling. I cannot imagine anyone getting passionate about these types of jobs. To be a successful human being you need the time to cultivate friendships and relationships, explore various hobbies, spend time with the children, travel the world. Americans understand this to some extent. Your life should NOT ENTIRELY be about making your boss rich.

I have lived and worked in China. This documentary is so accurate. I dont think though that most Americans watching it will understand the full extent because they wont put much thought into it. Did you notice that the only overweight Chinese person was the "chairman"? Did you notice he is respected as a God by the workers? He is not a "business man" in the way you might think. It is set up by people who have thoroughly studied american culture. He has "masters" he must answer to. He is sent there to gain the respect of Americans and economic power and then answer to his masters because his life and family is at stake. It's all a show. Its an authoritarian military communist state which is wielding great economic power. I mean they had giant pictures in the company of the man who single handedly caused the greatest massacre with the greatest death tole humanity has ever known...

This is not a fair comparison. Obama wants to prove that American workers are lazy and Chinese workers are hardworking. but in fact, every country has good workers and bad workers. The differences are whether they get rewarded. in China, state-owned companies are as bad as those GM workers. Obama is comparing the worst workers in the US with the best workers from Guangdong. The problems are originated from GM. I know too many good manufacturing businesses in the US. Obama hates Americans because they won't kneel down and begging for food as Chinese workers do. Chinese workers have no other choice either, their government has a brutal police force and strict media control over everything, they have no choice but to work hard.

A story of clash of culture, Reality of globalization, hope and dreams. You see the American workers with their swagger walk, shirt tails out and dragging themselves to work VERSES the Chinese positive look, well groomed and ready for work. REMEMBER the UAW put GM out of business with those $29 hr wages. It cost US tax payers $11 billion when GM when bankrupt. GM pensions only have $20 billion in assets, but owe workers $100 billion, which means the US Tax payers are going to be STUCK for an additional $80 billions (you kids love Congress for that I bet).

The future is China's for the taking, it's just matter of how much longer it takes for them to get there. Nothing short of nuking them out of jealousy can prevent China's rise to #1 economic powerhouse. They have a far more larger----and certainly more cohesive----population and politicians capable of acting in the long-term interest of their nation. They also have all the manufacturing, so even if the global economy crashes they can still produce the basic goods for daily life. The Chinese population is also more disciplined and eager to learn/work than the typical American. American leadership irresponsibly squandered our advantages for decades, the corruption and the waste is mind-boggling. The writing is on the wall, and has been for quite some time now.

Netflix is a propaganda machine for the worst president in history Obama, and worse yet, when Obama isn't blowing Mike, he's on his knees for the Chinese Communists. Remember.. today's Democrats are the party of racist identity politics, censorship, disarmament of the law abiding, murder of the unwanted, and big government control over personal freedom, just like... the Nazi Party of 1933. Plus they promote the failed ideology of Marxism, the Clintons, the Bidens, the Obamas, are all in bed with the Chinese Communists, and through the Democrats and 'the left', have corrupted our schools, the media, colleges, our political system, and the tech social media companies. A vote for Democrats is a vote for the ChiComs. I canceled Netflix when they brought on Susan Rice and Obama, haven't missed 'em yet.

Why Apple has no iphone production line in US soil, but Chinese glass investor produce auto-glass in US factory (there must be some incentive, but I still not figure out yet).
Why US workers want more foreign investor open production lines in US soil, it is more obvious. So there must be some mutual benefit for both sides. So both sides need to recoilize in order for working! i.e. US worker don't expect received working condition as GM era from their new employer while Chinese employer also don't expect can treat US workers as Chinese workers in their homeland too.
Actually this repeated 30 year ago when Japanese opened their car factory in US soil, so Japanese has better understanding and experience in American culture. At least you still not found any Chinese car brand produced in US territory yet.
Anyway this Chinese Employer deserved respects because he willing to exploring new method, adopt new environment and people, resolved employer-employee conflict in civilized ways and most important brings working opportunities for blue-collar class for local community rather than high skill professional.

Every iphone needs an complex "industrial chain" for supporting all parts, component and software development within a regional (like silicon valley), I was told because there was insufficient supply of custom made screw, Apple's laptop production was "screw-up" in US soil. Similar, Seattle and its regional area already established a long time industrial supply chain for supporting Boeing's airplane production line. It not possible to shift / establish a production line to somewhere within a short period of time.

This is a very good and sincere documentary for showing the working cultures of two different styles. Being a HongKonger standing between West and East, this film let you further understanding how mainland Chinese "Private" Enterprise operates. There is no right or wrong, but only differentiate from can you survive or not survive in a business environment. One of the Manager in the film mentioned that GM, Chrysler, Honda and Toyota see not difference of their suppliers as far as they meet the price and specification. It leaves the supplier's managemnet team for adjusting operation condition (i.e. stigient or relaxing operation parameters) in order to substantiate their business mode (needs continuous adjusting and also varies from country to country). Really learn something after watching this high quality Netflix documentary. I heard this film was produced by Obama and his wife, a good job of ex US president for bringing two kind of people more understanding each together👍

Sorry to say this but this is smoke and mirrors and as an African American educated in China I see this very clearly. This isn't the way China does things. It's what all large companies from all nations do when the situation fits. In this case, my fellow Americans must wake up and prepare for what is coming. 。。。一路順風。。。
