Do you people not know how a land grab works? If power is too “dangerous” in these areas then YOU are too dangerous to stay in these areas. Start packing your bags or fight back. You people need brains that can produce an original logical thought. Sheep

They're worried about wildfires and wind when it doesn't even break 90 degrees and there's hardly a breeze.

I am curious why everyone is just sitting and complaining about the power outages around them? I would think it would do more good if people of the public would go out and help them control the fires, like they have anything better to do if the power is out. I know it's dangerous to work the front line, I'm proposing a few miles out they can start working on a fire break. Just my two cents worth.

It is reprehensible that the millions of residents within Northern California have to endure this archaic process, due exclusively to the unbridled greed and negligence on behalf of PG&E.

Climate change has been a known trajectory for decades now. Rather than reinvesting their profits in future-proofing our aging infrastructure, PG&E instead elected to reap profits for their executives.

Unfettered capitalism has led us to forgo rational thinking in lieu of voracious greed.

PG&E is substituting one form of hazardous conditions for another, placing millions more in harm's way. Unmitigated negligence.

Consider the financial burdens placed on average families, during a period where most are living off of credit and vast amounts of debt. These same individuals can barely afford their residences let alone setting aside a budget for ongoing outages.

These outages will also further the class divide, since those with the means to do so, will hardly be inconvenienced. People with the appropriate bandwidth will be able to turn to solar and other alternative sources of energy, whereby the remaining serfs will be relegated to a return to the Dark Ages (2.0).

                      PG&E MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

Could homeowners in vulnerable areas go to the PG&E facilities that are likely to spark fires, and then use their own tools (chainsaws and other cutting tools) to clear dry brush to reduce risk? Is it possible that the State has slowly, over the past 30 years, made them hopelessly dependent and helpless? California needs vigilantes with hedge clippers!

The trust is gone. I would like to know why the so called journalists of Classical Liberalism are not giving the people a voice. To them, it's governments voice first, power companies voice second, and then, in minuscule writing at the bottom of an article, the people get three syllables.
To those who scoff and live in the cities, let's see how you'd feel if the government shut your power off for a total of a week. You'd freak. You'd find out how greasy and smelly you really are. Eventually you'd take a cold shower because you'd stink so much. You'd also make really close friends with this guy named of Ramen, last name of Noodles. And those power generators? They run $800 to $5,000, something many working people cannot afford.
If you're so smart, I challenge you to go camping for 7-10 days. Oh, camping is fun for a while, but by that 4th day, you really want to get home and shower and eat something good. Go try it, you might have a different opinion of our brothers and sisters in California.
PS- Thank you Los Angeles Times for listening to the people.

As a steam power engineer this outage business makes absolutely no sense to me. The highest danger of fire comes when the power lines are under huge demand. At no time is the demand higher than when voltage returns to a grid with millions of sources still turned on.
Also, there is this simple fact. At no time is fire danger greater than when the grid is down and people are operating generators, burning candles or cooking over a fire. Duhhhhh!
This fabricated dilemma is not about fire, it is about inconvenience, the kind of inconvenience that pushes people into cities per Agenda 21 and Agenda 30 (the human control and reduction Agendas)

I am really concerned about how negligent PG&E is and how far they will go.  Shutting off our power is reckless!  While I don't want to see what happened in Paradise reoccur, don't you think the proper resolution would be to fix the problems with the power lines, transformers, etc., so that what happened in Paradise does not happen again? But no, they rather turn off all of our electricity!!!  However, that can create lots of problems!!!  Not only are businesses losing money, but residents without generators (and I bet many if not most do not have generators in place as they are very expensive) are losing food.  And, since most of the grocery stores and restaurants are also closed, they won't be able to get food (and even if they did, how would they cook it?).  Furthermore, and more importantly, what if there was an emergency?  People will not be able to call for help if their phones are dead!  And, if there was a major disaster, some people will not be able to get gas to leave because the gas pumps will be closed!  I can go on and on about how dangerous and reckless PG&E is being!  We have a right to have our power on, we paid for these services, and PG&E should be forced to fix the problems not create new ones and possibly even bigger ones!  And, our government should put a stop to this!!!!  Such a shame--California, the most beautiful state with influential people living in such times--it does not make sense!
