We make being natural more difficult that it should be. When I first went natural, I thought I needed 13 products to get it just right. Now I literally use a deep conditioner, water, and and gel daily and my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been.

I spend about 400 on wigs and braids (a year) I spend about 200 on hair products. My trims and straightening cost about 200 a year . Honestly I think I spend more on my skin care.

I’m not mad at them. We have a different type of hair and it takes different ways to maintain it. Most black women are still trying to figure it out. Once they figure it out, they’ll stop spending so much on products.

As for the expensive wigs and weave? That just ain’t never gonna stop.😂

What is the point of this video? There are affordable options and if you cant afford $700 weave or $30 conditioner then choose another option, just because it is more expensive doesn't mean it will work for your hair. And even if you buy from the black community if you cant pay your bills and if you are in debt then you are not making wise choices.

Stop buying wigs and wear your natural hair. Problem solved. And I know plenty of whites and asians who also buy expensive hair products!

This video is so dramatic. They make it seem like our hair is the sole purpose of our lives. Missing a party to wash your hair?

I don't see why women makes a wash day so special. I wash my hair every single day and I have a mix of 4b and 4c hair. I like my wash and go look. It takes about 5 minute.

And my hair grows 0,5 inch every month. Washing it everyday doesn't brake it. I eat healthy to get my proteins and vitamins.

i buy all my products at hair shows or during black friday when I can get the best deals. I still have products I bought last year that have not been opened because I ordered so much and everything totaled to just under $200. I think you can make it expensive or cheap as you want and that is totally your choice to make no one else

I'm a student with a big 3c/4a afro, and I can't always afford to buy all my hair products. I've learned to do (with the help of YouTube ) box braids, twists, cornrows by myself to save money, make my own hair products like mask and cream with organic products. And minimize the products that I buy, I only use 3 brands of hair products instead of 10 different. It was hard at the beginning but I'm saving so much money compare to how I used to spend.

I think most of the women in this video are exaggerating the "cost of black natural hair care". Expensive wigs and weave are not necessary. Natural hair isn't "a fight for it to be presentable". The issue is that we are not educated as to how to take care of your hair. I've been natural for 5 years and I probably $20 US per month on hair.

This is click bait not rooted in reality. No other black woman speaks for my reality.

There is no insecurity and like my sista India Arie said, I am not my hair.

Black women do need to stop wearing wigs. They look crazy. A short haircut is better than a wig.

1st, it always looks tacky. 2nd the first thing you notice is the wig. 3rd the wigs is distracting. You tend to focus on how bad it looks. 4th nobody's hair is that shiny so it's obvious you are wearing a wig. 5th wigs don't make women look attractive actually less, cause you are wondering what is going on under it.

Please stop with the lies. I spend $8 a month on long hair in natural state. I buy 1 or 2 shampoos a year.

Easy to maintain hair, natural or otherwise. Star rinsing your hair with coffee. Does more for your hair than you could imagine. Or you could make garlic oil or onion juice, you get Incredible results.

I use coffee and cinnamon oil on my hair daily. It nourishes, strengthens and my hair grows at a fast rate.

I usually braid my own hair (i.e without the addition of extensions). The black American culture is the problem. You don't NEED all of that... it's a choice.

Because I used just the right amount for my hair type. I agree it can get expensive and that comes from trying to learn our hair. Some just like trying out new products not necessarily because what they have is not working. Back to new If im in a curly mood then I buy products that will make the curls last longer such as s curl or non crunchy gel still only a synthetic wig though I know this method doesn't work for everyone but it saved me money from when I had to buy hair then turn around and pay the person to put it in and pay for upkeep. Or when you buy human hair that only last a few months and then you have to turn around and buy more which runs you $200-$800 or more

You only need a shampoo, conditioner (optional) and product which could be a cheap food oil. Simple. That's the magic. But those white folk deceive us all by using our own African diasporas in ads to promote a lie of the "untameable hair". Don't buy it and buy with sense.

Hair grease is the chemical substitute for oils for oiling the scalp and hair lotion is a substitute for thicker oils and creamy food conditioners we use for our hair as well. The og is better then the forced substitutes that don't benefit us.

I recently started to limit myself to 5 hair care products I know work for my hair instead of saying "Let me buy this to see if it'll work better for my hair" stop doing this. A shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, moisturizer and styling cream is all you need and use them till they're empty. You dont need a closet full of products from different brands that do the same thing. focus on products that keep your hair moisturized like a moisturizer or leave in and a product that retains that moisture and gives you hold like a gel or styling cream.

Our ancestors did not spend on this money and used all this crap. What is wrong with yall. I get some people are vain, but you dont see average white folk spending this much on their hair. I am a reformed product junkie & decided to start using natural oils, T. Joe's shampoo/ conditioner & a decent leave in. Turns out it only costs abt $20- $30 / month. I also save bcuz I only go to the hairdresser col times a year. As a mom just cldn't justify spending the $$ & more importantly didn't want to teach my daughter that it was ok to spend that much $$ on beauty products.
